Proteus, a minimalist game of pure exploration and sublime discovery in a musical wilderness environment created by Ed Key and David Kanaga, is coming to Steam for PC and Mac on January 30th, the developers have announced.
“We’re excited to finally announce that Proteus will being leaving its “beta” period and coming to Steam on 30th January for Mac and PC! Since the start of the beta we’ve been refining and expanding Proteus and have reached a point where it feels right to call it “done” (at least until we’ve had a rest and thought about another update)”, wrote Ed Key on the game’s official website.
To date Proteus has won numerous awards, the most notable including Best Audio at IndieCade 2011, and finalist for the Nuovo award at IGF 2012, while it was also featured in the Museum of Modern Art’s “Common Senses” exhibit in New York City. The game will cost $9.99 at launch, but you can purchase it from here before the 30th for the bargain price of $7.50. All direct buyers will also receive a Steam key.
