Gaslamp Games, the independent game developer of the critically acclaimed Dungeons of Dredmor, have just announced their new title, Clockwork Empires, a steampunk city-building strategy game for the Windows, OS X, and Linux platforms.

In Clockwork Empires you play as a Junior Bureaucrat trying to build a colony in an exotic land. The cities can be filled with all manner of buildings, from factories and houses to laboratories and cathedrals and many other19th century ideas. The colony can be populated with upper, middle, and lower-class people, with street urchins, scientists, factory workers, clerks, and rich aristocrats, to name some. The world of Clockwork Empires will be more dangerous than something actually explored in the real world, as Gaslamp’s CEO Daniel Jacobsen explains the game world is similar to old globes with monsters drawn all over.

According to Gaslamp Games Clockwork Empires uses a procedural 3D building technology to let you customize any structure to your heart’s content.
