Our Development & Modding Legacy

GameConnect started in 2004 as the gaming division of TechConnect, born from a group of friends playing Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, and Team Fortress 2. Over the years, including our time operating as the SteamFriends network, we grew into a vibrant, safe community hub for gamers across Europe.

Beyond playing games, our passionate team began building solutions for the titles we loved. We co-developed major community tools like Steambans (a global anti-cheat platform) and SourceBans (a server administration suite), alongside several custom Source engine mods.

The InterWave Era

Driven by our passion for game creation, we established InterWave Studios as our commercial development branch. In 2011, we released Nuclear Dawn on Steam, pioneering a unique hybrid of FPS and RTS gameplay. While the game developed a dedicated following, limited resources and funding eventually led to the closure of InterWave in 2015, after which we returned fully to our roots as the GameConnect community.

Legacy Support Notice

Following the closure of InterWave Studios in 2015, active commercial game development, official server infrastructure, and patch support for Nuclear Dawn and Dark Matter came to an end. While the GameConnect team supported these titles for as long as possible post-launch, GameConnect no longer maintains or provides technical support, updates, or account assistance for InterWave Studios software. Today, these projects remain archived here as a proud chapter of our studio's history.

Then, take Nuclear Dawn above the action, and play as the commander. Organize your fellow players in squads, and assign them to tactical objectives. Plan the resource routes for your army, and production of your structures for forward deployment. Exploit the terrain and resource point locations to block your enemies’ advance, and crush their plans in an iron fist. Research and implement new technologies to give your soldiers the edge on the battlefield, and set up forward bases to lead the assault on your enemies, with a full complement of defensive and offensive structures to choose from, to build your perfect fortress.

Dark Matter

Dark Matter

With intelligent enemies that react to changing environmental conditions, Dark Matter is a dynamic world of darkness, where light is not always the safest place to hide.

The game aims to craft its own niche in the pantheon of side-scrolling exploration and combat games (yes, we’re really trying to not say ‘Metroidvania’), by combining the visual impact and gameplay implications of real-time lighting across the board, a deeply upgradable weapons system, and a limited crafting system in a world where there are few ‘magical drops’.

Your enemies will drop resources, you will mostly craft your ammo and health packs from those resources.
